April 2007

Important Dates

The April Catatonk Valley Woodcarvers business meeting will be held April 23.

The Next Carving Class

After all the talk about carving cute little bunnies, lambs and songbirds, it seems appropriate that a vulture is the subject of the next carving class. Roger said the pose is just right for a Valentines Day gift, “Just waiting for you, My Valentine” the vulture says, and is posed in a miniature craggy tree. This class is sure to be a fun one and will start the last Monday in April.

Dave Sabol Class in October

The club is trying to get Dave Sabol, a master caricature carver, to come and teach a class in October. Roger Westgate needs to know how much interest there is in the class so he can finalize details with Dave Sabol. The tentative date is in mid-October, after the carving show. Call Roger or get on the list while you are at the weekly meeting.

Tour of Golden Paints

Bill Underwood is organizing a trip to Golden Paint in New Berlin. It’s about an hour from Endicott and it is a paint company tour of their operation. The tour is fun and informative and ends up in the sales show room where you can get deals on Golden Paints. The details for the trip (time, date, pretty much everything you really need to know) were too sketchy at the time of this publication for me to set out. Tour dates are limited by Golden Paint and are during the week, not on weekends. More details at the Monday meeting or call Bill Underwood for the latest info.

Last Months Demo

Thanks to Bill Underwood for his air brush demo at the end of last month’s meeting. Time to dust off the airbrush for those unique painting techniques.

If you signed up for circus items then finish the carving as soon as possible. Photos and other advertising will start soon and ticket sales are not far off.
